Valentine’s weekend will host several mid-winter activities on Ocracoke.  

The Flying Melon Cafe on Back Road will be open for dinner Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

The Ocracoke Child Care Center will host a Chili Cook-off at the Ocracoke Station Campground on Saturday (Feb. 13), with chili cooking (from scratch) starting at 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. when tasting by attendees begins.  Spots for chili chefs and sponsors are still available and can be paid upon arrival. Cost per dish entry is $25 and attendees pay $10 each. Beverage will be for sale by Ocracoke Station. All proceeds benefit Ocracoke Child Care, due to open mid-March.

Zillie’s Island Pantry will have some wine tasting events.

Other island eateries open include Gaffer’s Sports Pub, Ocracoke Oyster Company, Eduardo’s Tacos and the Ocracoke Bar & Grille.
