The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles will reschedule its visit to Ocracoke next week.
Marge Howell, DMV communications officer, said Tuesday that when the DMV mobile unit had arrived here on Friday, April 22, and set up, the equipment did not work.
“They could not get the camera to work and at 9:20 shut it down and left,” she said.
A date for the rescheduled visit has not yet been determined, she said. The Ocracoke Observer will publish the date as soon as it is announced.
Howell said the mobile unit will then visit Ocracoke once a quarter. The other dates this year the mobile unit will visit will be July 22 and Oct. 21, Howell said.
If islanders can’t get to the mobile unit on Ocracoke, they can go to the Hatteras Civic Center, 1498 N.C. Highway 12, on the third Wednesday and Thursday of each month where the DMV will set up a new compact mobile unit. It will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday.

In addition to the Hatteras monthly stops, DMV has offices open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Nags Head, 2808 S. Croatan Highway, and Edenton, 705 N. Broad St.
