Ocracoke School on Tuesday honored 63 students in grades three to 12 who achieved honor roll for the second nine weeks of the 2017-2018 school year. Of those, 33 students made all As.
Principal Leslie Cole began Tuesday morning’s assembly by asking parents to keep children with the flu away from all school functions while sick.
“That’s, of course, to keep everybody healthy,” she said. “So, if we could work together and be on the same page — that would keep our flu season here at Ocracoke down to a minimum.”
Cole said last fall that those students who earn all As all year will receive special recognition at the school’s annual academic banquet in June. This change was made in the 2017-18 parent handbook and was announced at Back to-School night and to the student body at the start of the school last fall.
Assistant Principal Mary McKnight announced the honorees names as Cole handed out certificates.
