The National Park Service invites the public to a sea turtle nest excavation at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, Aug. 7) at a location 0.3 miles north of the lifeguard stand at the Ocracoke Day Use Area.
Visitors may park at the day use area parking lot and walk over the boardwalk to the beach.
Alternatively, visitors with off-road vehicle permits may enter the beach at Ramp 70 and drive north, parking before the brown markers that indicate the beginning of the vehicle-free area and the lifeguard beach.
An interpretive ranger will be on site conducting a sea turtle program, and will be available to answer any questions.
