Ocracoke Island will open back up Friday after having been closed almost two weeks due to Hurricane Florence. Some businesses will resume their entertainment this weekend; others have had to cancel bands.
While N.C. 12 at the north end of Ocracoke is being repaired, the NCDOT Ferry Division has a temporary schedule system wide. See the schedule here. The online and phone reservation system is accepting reservations.
Ferries to Ocracoke Friday, Sept. 21, through Monday, Sept. 24, are on the following schedule:
Swan Quarter to Ocracoke: 7 a.m. 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Ocracoke to Swan Quarter: 7 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 12:45 p.m., 3:45 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Cedar Island to Ocracoke: 7 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m .and 4 p.m.
Ocracoke to Cedar Island: 7:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Among the island events for locals and returning visitors Friday and this weekend will be the following:
Friday, Sept. 21
Zillie’s Island Pantry Wine Tasting, 538 Back Road, 6 pm.
Coyote Den: Open mic with guest co-host Kelley Shinn, 7 to 9 pm
Ocracoke Oyster Co.: Kate McNally, 7 pm
Gaffer’s: DJ Konrad Kuechenmeister, 9 pm
Saturday, Sept. 22
Lifeguard Beach: 8 a.m. to noon: Beach cleanup with the National Park Service. All volunteers welcome.
Ocracoke Oyster Co.: Martin Garrish and friends, 7 pm
Gaffer’s: DJ Konrad Kuechenmeister, 9 pm
Sunday, Sept. 23
Ocracoke Bar & Grille: Kate McNally, 8 pm
