James C. Paul Sr.

James C. Paul Sr., 69, of Washington, Beaufort County, and a former resident of Ocracoke, died Sept. 23, in his home.

He was the husband of Mary Anna O’Neal, with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 1.

Born in Pamlico County Nov. 12, 1948, he was a son of the late Wilford C. Paul and the late Helena Parsons Paul.

He was a graduate of Ocracoke School’s class of 1968.  
Paul was a retired  ferry captain with the N.C. Ferry Division, having completed 30 years of service.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons James C. Paul Jr. (and wife Susan) of Palmer, Alaska,  and John David Paul of Ocracoke;  a daughter, Tina Lee Snapp, wife of Mark Snapp, of Wanchese, Dare County; and a brother, Terry Lee Paul of Greenville; and six grandchildren: Zachery, Samantha, Madeline, Jamie, Donavon, Sophia and Arabella, and one great-grandchild.
A remembrance service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, in the Ocracoke Assembly of God Church.
