Hyde County Government Offices will close at noon today, (Thursday, Oct. 11) due to the effects of Tropical Storm Michael, downgraded from hurricane status.

Offices will reopen Friday with normal operating hours.

A tornado watch has also been issued until 9 p.m. tonight (Thursday), and Hyde remains under a tropical storm warning.

Hyde County advises all residents to keep your cell phones charged and on or have a NOAA radio available to get any severe weather alerts.

The Convenience Site on Ocracoke will remain open unless the wind blows over 55 mph.

In addition, all FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers in North Carolina will be closed Thursday because of the storm.  The Centers will reopen when it is safe to open, possibly Friday.
