Ocracoke events Nov. 19 to 25, updated

The Ocracoke Preservation Society will host a public memorial ceremony at 10 a.m. Thanksgiving Day at Springer's Point, Ocracoke, N.C., to honor the British Royal Navy sailors who vanquished the pirate Blackbeard 300 years ago on Nov. 22, 1718. Ocracoke Dolphins basketball. Hosting the  Perquimans Pirates, Boys JV tip-off at 4:30 pm, followed by boys varsity. School gym. Games will be broadcast by WOVV, 90.1 FM and online at http://www.wovv.rocks/ 
Ocracoke Community Library: History presentation of the 300th anniversary of the Battle at Ocracoke between Lt. Robert Maynard of the British Royal Navy with Jeff Jernigan, 7 pm. Free; refreshments. See flier below.
Gaffer’s: Texas Hold ‘Em Poker, 7 pm
Ocracoke Community Library Book Fair, 3 to 6 pm. Final day for the biggest fundraiser for the Ocracoke School library.

Wednesday, Nov. 21
Gaffer’s: Team Trivia to benefit the Ocracoke School Lady Dolphins middle school basketball team. 7 to 9 pm.
Coyote Music Den: Thanksgiving Open mic with special guests, 7:30 pm (Last concert of the season)

Thursday, Nov. 22
The Fourth Annual 5K Turkey Trot, 8 am. Race begins and ends at 1718 Brewing Ocracoke. $20 entry fee. Sponsored by 1718 and Angie’s Gym, this event is a fundraiser for the Ocracoke School PTA.
300th anniversary of Battle of Ocracoke Memorial Service, 10 am, Springer’s Point; English Tea follows at the Berkley Manor Barn.
Ocracoke Oyster Co.: Annual Thanksgiving Buffet, 11:30 am to 4 pm Reservations recommended.
Gaffers: Traditional Thanksgiving Buffet, 12 to 4 pm
Ocracoke Assembly of God Church, Lighthouse Road: Friends & Family Thanksgiving 5 pm. Turkey and other meat provided; OAOG requests bringing a side dish or dessert to share.
Zillie’s: open noon to 8 pm; fire pits will be burning.

Zillie’s: Holiday Open House, noon to 6 pm; complimentary spiced cider, hot mulled wine, holiday treats and secret surprises.
Holiday Parade of Boats, Silver Lake Harbor, 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Hot chocolate to follow in Ocracoke Working Waterman’s exhibit. (Postponed from Saturday due to forecasted rain.)
Gaffers: Sunday, NFL Football, Make Your Own Bloody Mary Bar and 75-cent wings all day
