The National Weather Service out of Morehead City today announced that a strong and slow-moving low-pressure system will impact the area Friday into Saturday bringing periods of heavy rainfall across eastern North Carolina.

With the already saturated ground, expect the rainfall to readily run off bringing the threat for flash flooding across the region. A flood watch has been issued for all of eastern N.C. beginning Friday afternoon and continuing into Saturday afternoon.

In addition, we could see isolated strong to severe storms Friday night into early Saturday with damaging wind gusts or an isolated tornado possible. The threat of severe storms will be greatest near the coast where the instability will be a little higher.
