In 1917 a new schoolhouse was built where the current building sits. This handsome new facility included six rooms, each with its own entrance to the outside. The school housed grades one through eight, and soon became a focal point for the community. Courtesy of Island Journal

Members of the school faculty this year are here for the first time-except Principal C.F. Boyette.

Faculty members include: A. M. Chisholm, history and science; Miss Adelaide Johnson, commercial and seventh grade; Miss Marita Carrithers, fourth, fifth and sixth grades; Miss Jaunita Whisnant, first, second and third grades.

Teachers, with help of students and cooperation of parents are expecting a good school year, according to Principal Boyette.

Attendance has been very good so far and students are students are showing interest in their work.
