In June, Cape Hatteras National Seashore is celebrating World Oceans Month by hosting three beach clean-up days from Bodie Island to Ocracoke.
Oceans, which make up approximately 70 percent of the earth, are natural treasures, a source of food and energy and the foundation for life.
The beach cleanups from 9 to 11 a.m. will be held on the following days and locations:
- June 21: Bodie Island, Coquina Beach bathhouse
- June 24: Hatteras Island, Old Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Site parking lot
- June 28: Ocracoke Island, Lifeguarded beach parking lot
Participants are asked to bring leather gloves, water, snacks and sunscreen. Wear appropriate clothing, including hats and closed-toe shoes. Trash bags will be provided.
Children under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian with them.
