Thomas Midgett: 1949 to 2017

Thomas Midgett

William Thomas Midgett, 67, died Wednesday (Oct. 4) in his Ocracoke home.

Known as Thomas, he was the husband of Pamela Scarborough Midgett.

Born Nov. 1, 1949, in Morehead City, he was a son of the late Betty Louise Williams Midgett and Ralph Midgett.

A U.S. Army veteran, Midgett served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. He then worked for and retired from the NCDOT Ferry Division and also worked for the National Park Service. Midgett was a Mason and loved fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Midgett is survived by three daughters, Kimberly Midgett O’Neal, (Reginald O’Neal, Jr.), Merrian Elizabeth Midgett (Christopher Howarth), and Erin Michelle O’Neal (Chad O’Neal) all of Ocracoke.

Also a son, Shanon Patrick Eiben of Frisco; four grandchildren, Cody Pinter, Payce Howarth, Carter O’Neal, and William Ross Francis.

Also, a brother, Gerald Edward Midgett of Ocracoke.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, in the Ocracoke United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Bryant officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ocracoke United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 278, Ocracoke, NC 27960.
