Following a stormy Christmas Eve with the arrival of a cold front, Ocracoke awoke Christmas morning to a partly sunny, but colder, day.
The storm last night brought high winds but reports this morning are that the ocean did not breach N.C. 12 at the north end of the island.
Temperature is forecast to drop to 30 overnight, rising into the low 40s on sunny Saturday.
Islanders bedecked their homes and businesses for the holidays. The Ocracoke Civic and Business Association recently judged the island decorations for the Island Celebration.
Below are the OCBA Island Celebration winners along with some other samples of holiday lights.
