From our news services

The NC Weather Forecast Office out of Newport/Morehead City has issued a warning to prepare for snow across the region starting Tuesday afternoon (Jan. 21) into Wednesday and sustained freezing temperatures starting Monday.

The storm may cause disruptions of ferry service, create hazardous travel conditions, possible power outages and frozen water pipes.

The National Weather Service said it was still uncertain to project snowfall amounts and whether there will be sleet or freezing rain mix. An update will be posted Sunday afternoon.

The freezing weather with high winds will occur especially Tuesday through Thursday, when morning temperatures are expected to be in the teens and wind chills in the single digits.
