The Ocracoke Earth Day Weekend Celebration will be on this weekend April 11 to 13.

In collaboration with local and regional individuals and organizations, Ocracoke Alive staff and volunteers have planned a weekend of information and fun.

Throughout the weekend, attendees can choose from a variety of indoor and outdoor activities designed for all ages.

Those include nature walks, history talks, nature crafts, live music, stargazing, a beach litter pick-up, and informative discussions on sustainability and environmental solutions. See schedule below and a detailed schedule at www.ocracokealive.org.

The event will conclude with a community beach fire at Ocracoke’s lifeguard beach.

The weekend was the brainchild of island resident Beverly Meeker, who proposed the idea in the fall of 2023. Ocracoke Alive launched this event in 2024.

Among the festival highlights are the following:

The Ocracoke Earth Day Weekend Celebration is sponsored by Ocracoke Alive, with financial support from Ocracoke Occupancy Tax, NC Arts Council, Pony Island Inn and Charles & Sarah Saunders.
