FERRY INFORMATION to Ocracoke

NOTE Vehicle ferries are free and are first-come; first-served. Due to critical shoaling in the Hatteras Inlet, some runs on the Hatteras-Ocracoke route are subject to daily cancellations. Please check Twitter @NCFerryHatteras each day for updates.

To April 11:
From Hatteras:
5 a.m., 6, 7, 8, 8:30, 9, 10, 10:30, 11, 11:30, noon, 1, 1:30, 2, 2:30, 3, 4, 4:30, 5, 5:30, 6, 7:30, 8, 9, 11, midnight.

From Ocracoke: 4:30 a.m., 6:30, 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10, 10:30, 11, 11:30, noon, 1, 1:30, 2, 2:30, 3, 4, 4:30, 5, 5:30, 6, 6:30, 7, 9, 9:30,10:30, midnight.

The schedule will be as follows starting April 12:

Please note that while the number of scheduled runs will increase from 18 to 26 daily departures from each side, the Hatteras Inlet is still dealing with increased shoaling which may delay departures, the N.C. Ferry division said. The Ferry Division is working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to have the area dredged as soon as possible. Until then, passengers on the Hatteras route may experience wait times as long as two hours or more.

From Hatteras: 5 a.m., 6 a.m., 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m., 11 p.m., midnight.

From Ocracoke: 4:30 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., noon, 12:30 p.m., 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 9 p.m., 9:30 p.m., 10:30 p.m., midnight.

Ferry travelers are encouraged to call the Hatteras Terminal at 252-996-6000 before arriving to check on schedules and estimated wait times.

Pamlico Sound routes to May 23:
Cedar Island-Ocracoke
From Cedar Island: 7:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
From Ocracoke: 7:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Swan Quarter-Ocracoke
From Swan Quarter: 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
From Ocracoke: 7 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Passengers can reserve space on Pamlico Sound departures online at www.ncferry.org, or by calling 1-800-BY FERRY.

Runs on all ferry routes can be delayed or canceled at any time and for many reasons.  The ferry captains makes their own decisions about whether or not it is safe to run, but generally, when wind speeds reach about 35 mph, ferry runs will be suspended until the winds die down.
