Raleigh–The North Carolina Department of Transportation on Monday issued a request for proposals (RFP) seeking a company to manage sponsorship opportunities for the North Carolina Ferry System.
The RFP seeks an asset management sponsorship company to work with NCDOT in supervising and managing as many as three corporate sponsors for the Ferry System.
Those sponsors would have opportunities ranging from the branding of WiFi and vending services to the branding of the vessels themselves. Money raised from sponsorships would automatically go to a fund designed to replace aging ferry vessels.
“This is something we’ve been working on for awhile,” said Ed Goodwin, Ferry Division director. “It took some time to navigate the legalities for a transportation system regulated at both the state and federal levels, but we now have a program that has the potential to raise a significant amount of money for new ferries.”
All proposals should be submitted by April 4.
