The Life Saving Church Bread of Life Food Pantry is seeking donations of food and cash for its Thanksgiving food drive on Ocracoke.

The pantry would like to serve about 60 island families on Monday, Nov. 23.

On that day, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the pantry will first serve the regular clients who receive assistance up to four times per month.

From 2 to 4 p.m., the service will be open to anyone in the community in need whether or not they are a pantry client.

Drop-off bins for packaged and canned goods have been set up inside the post office and the Ocracoke Variety Store.

Interested persons may also fill a box with one of each item and leave it on the pantry porch at 459 Lighthouse Road.

“We are very much in need of further support if we are going to reach our goal of 60 families,” said Alicia Peel, administrative assistant for the Ocracoke Interfaith Relief & Recovery Team.  “We are so grateful for the love and care shown to our community when we are in need, and hope that reaching out now will help us serve those who need it most this holiday season.”

If folks who live off island would like to contribute, we have an Amazon Wish List here https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1NQ05E4GCQHPY?ref_=wl_share

Some items are difficult to get on Amazon right now. So anyone who would like to donate or ship through a different service is welcome to, using the address:

Life Saving Church, c/o Pantry, 459 Lighthouse Rd., Ocracoke NC 27960

The pantry can also accept monetary donations–checks made out to “Life Saving Church” with “Pantry Thanksgiving” in the memo, or Food Lion or Variety Store gift cards to PO Box 68 Ocracoke NC 27960.

If anyone has questions, or a resident would like a pantry application they can email ocracokepantry@gmail.com.
