The Island Inn Landscaping Project will sell fundraising bricks from 9 an a.m. to noon, and 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 25, on the Variety Store front porch.

The bricks will pave a walkway through the new fig garden at the Island Inn Commons to be laid in the fall.

The bricks can take three lines of text in a dedication and cost $100. Payments are tax deductible via the Ocracoke Preservation Society with credit cards, cash or checks.  The bricks won’t be offered online but the group also will sell bricks at the Ocrafolk Festival (June 7 to 9), The OPS July 3 Fish Fry, The Fig Festival (Aug. 2 to 3) and other events this year, including a return in the fall at the Variety Store.

The vision for the iconic property, which the OPS purchased in 2018, includes retaining and renovating the original two-story, wood-frame structure (the former Odd Fellow’s Lodge), demolishing the two deteriorating wings (which has been done), adding public restrooms, and retaining some green space.

Editor’s note: The times for the sale were updated by the organizers.
