The Ocracoke Community Pool Association will hold a “Ride for the Pool” Bike-a-thon at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8.

The ride will begin and end at the Ocracoke School circle where registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Riders will go to the NPS Campground and back and will ride in groups of five to eight.

Young riders will ride only in the circle with adult accompaniment.

Riders will be required to get cash pledges from donors before the ride with the goal of each rider raising $100 in $10 increments or more.

All money raised will support the pool association.

All riders must sign a waiver and all under 16 must wear helmets per North Carolina law.

Riders will be followed by an assistance vehicle.

The pool association recently purchased 1.4 acres of land off Cutting Sage Road for the island’s first-ever community swimming pool.

The parcel is big enough to house a six-lane, 25-meter pool that will serve residents and visitors alike.
