Since Hurricane Dorian struck on Sept. 6, Ocracoke Island has been rebuilding after the devastating flooding. In addition, most events are canceled and organizations are on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic.

YOGA

Virtual on Zoom and occasional pop-up classes at the beach, not on a regular schedule.

RELIGIOUS SERVICES

Ocracoke Life Saving and the Ocracoke United Methodist churches, with Rev. Ivey Belch and Pastor Susie Fitch-Slater, are doing combined services are conducting a combined, socially distant service at 10 a.m. Sundays at the Books to be Red lawn; at Ocracoke School circle if inclement weather.

Ocracoke Fig Festival will be held online Aug. 7 and 8. Ocracoke Fig Festival
Due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, this festival Aug. 7 and 8, will be transferred online at the OPS YouTube channel and Facebook page with programs on how to preserve, bake and cook with figs, village fig tree tours and interviews with island “fignitaries.” 

 Ocracoke Alive mask-making and parade
Aug. 12, 2 pm face mask crafting outdoors at Books to be Red, School Road. Mask Parade and Ball with live music at Community Square, 7 pm.

Local Art & Wellness Bazaar
Ocracoke Island Yoga yard, 37 Back Road
Aug. 20, 10 am to 2 pm & Aug. 21, 3 to 7 pm.
Local wellness providers, healers & artists will provide products and services for sale including Yoga props, crystals, plants, essential oil blends, CBD products, local art & locally made products.
