The deadline to register to vote for the general election is Friday, Oct. 10.

This deadline also includes changing political party affili­ation and updating an address.

The deadline for requests for an absentee by mail ballot is Tuesday, Oct. 28.

One-Stop Voting on Oc­racoke will be held two days from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 25, in the new Ocracoke Volunteer Fire Department building 822 Irvin Garrish Highway:

There are several convenient ways to become a registered voter in Hyde County.

For online voter registration applications, visit http://www. ncsbe.gov/ncsbe/Voter-Infor­mation/VR-Form.

Hard copies can be obtained from the Hyde County Elec­tions Office during business hours or at any public library.

You can also register to vote while at the NC Department of Motor Vehicles offices.

The State Board of Elections has added a new feature to their website https://www.ncsbe. gov/webapps/voter_search/.

On this site, voters can look up their voter profile and view their sample ballot for the up­coming election.
