The DMV’s new mobile unit will visit Ocracoke in the OVFD first-floor conference room May 20.

Raleigh–The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles will return to Ocracoke from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 20, and will be located in the first-floor conference room of Ocracoke Volunteer Fire Department, 822 Irvin Garrish Highway.

The agency will bring driver license and identification card services with its its new,  SUV-style portable mobile unit.

The mobile unit had to curtail its April visit because of technical problems with its cameras.  After the May visit, the unit will return to the Fire Department location on Friday, July 22, and on Friday, Oct. 21.

The new unit offers complete driver license and ID card services for customers, bringing up-to-date equipment to indoor locations.

DMV services are also available at offices located in Nags Head and Edenton.  Information about these and other mobile stops in the region, including Swan Quarter, Columbia and Plymouth, is listed on the DMV website at www.ncdot.gov/dmv.

Many driver license renewal and vehicle registration renewal services are also available via the website.
