Born March 5, 2003, in Washington, N.C., Lee died Aug. 10 in Castle Hayne, N.C.
Vibrant, loving and charming, family and friends knew Lee for his love of nature and adventure. He was in his element hunting, deep-sea fishing or camping. Lee’s infectious smile often preceded a joke or an athletic feat.
Lee’s personality endeared him to people throughout the Southeast.
Lee is survived by his mother, Heather Anne Hindsley, and his father Dale (Fess) Covington Winstead and his wife Jennifer of Ocracoke; his sisters Josie and Sierra; his maternal grandparents Pack and Jan Hindsley; his uncle and aunt Kerry Hindsley and Carmen Lam; his uncle and aunt Paul and Juli Hindsely; his aunt and uncle Wendy and Keith Woolard.
His aunt and uncle Penny and John (JP) Purvis; his cousins Ava Hindsley, Stacy Cutler, Kimberly Spain, Daniel Woolard, Vivian Ballance, Ashley Cuthrell.
His dogs Blue and Daisy; his cats Tom and Jeri; and his beloved snake Hercules.
Flowers are respectfully declined, and the family asks that donations be made in memory of Lee to the Ocracoke Youth Center (Ocracoke ball field), P.O. Box 1684, Ocracoke, NC 27960
Food can be delivered to David and Melinda Esham’s house in Oyster Creek. All are invited to their house after the service from 3 to 6 p..m to visit with the family.
Pastors Ivey Belch of the Ocracoke Assembly of God and Richard Bryant from Ocracoke United Methodist churches will officiate the service.
