Islander Angie Todd was sworn in on Tuesday as the Ocracoke member of the Hyde County Board of Education.

Todd was approved Monday after the Board interviewed her and two others for the Ocracoke district school board seat vacated in June by David Tolson before his elected position was up.

Island magistrate Lonnie Burrus swore Todd into the position, witnessed by Dr. Randolph Latimore.

“I’m pretty excited about it,” Todd said after the brief ceremony.

The other candidates interviewed Monday were Finley Austin and Kelley Shinn, Latimore said.

“All were well qualified,” he said.

Todd fills Tolson’s remaining two-year term until the 2018 election.
