SWAN QUARTER, N.C. — The Hyde County Board of Elections has appointed Swan Quarter resident Amanda Peaden as the new Director of Elections for Hyde County. She will replace long-time director Viola Williams who recently retired.
Peaden brings six years of experience in North Carolina public education, including records management, policy compliance, data analysis, public communication and the handling of confidential information.
“I am honored to serve the citizens of Hyde County,” Peaden said. “I am committed to assisting every voter with professionalism and ensuring that Hyde County’s elections are fair, accurate, secure and conducted in accordance with the law.”
As director, Peaden will oversee voter registration, election administration, absentee voting, candidate filing, poll-worker training and other responsibilities of the Hyde County Board of Elections.
A Swan Quarter resident and mother of three, Peaden credits her deep love for Hyde County to her late grandparents, Jane Bembenick and Ottis Carawan Jr.
