Brian the Leprechaun will be the Grand Marshal of the Ocracoke St. Patrick’s Day Parade Friday, March 17.

For this year’s Second Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade March 17, the organizer is hoping all Ocracoke businesses will join in to promote their businesses in a parade from the Ocracoke gas station to the Ocracoke Bar & Grille.

Cash of $550 for best float or group is the prize, said Sean Death, owner of the O’Bar, who conceived the idea last year, which had four entries.

“A lot of people are talking about it,” he said.

Registration is free and begins at 3:30 p.m. at the Ocracoke Station, and the parade will start at 4:15.

All businesses or groups may enter as many floats as they want, freely distribute swag, such as cups, T-shirts, coupons, etc., along the parade route and at both the Ocracoke Station and O’Bar.

This year, Brian the Leprechaun will be Grand Marshal and Poohbah of Tomfoolery.

“He’s a great performer,” Death said, adding that Brian, who lives in New York City, is a member of Mini Kiss, a Kiss tribute band.
