“How to Read a North Carolina Beach” a free program on the island ecosystem begins at 10 a.m. at North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching outdoor classroom behind the ferry office. Programs last about 90 minutes, are outdoors and are taught by Elizabeth Hanrahan, a certified wildlife educator.
Down Creek Gallery reception for island photographer Crystal Canterbury. Live music and refreshments. 5 to 8 p.m., with music and refreshments.
