The National Weather Service is monitoring the threat for severe storms later today (Friday, Sept. 1) into this evening.

A front extending east from the remnants of Harvey will be a focus for the severe threat this afternoon and evening, the NWS said in a statement.

The greatest threat will be to the west of the coast, but a few severe storms may develop over eastern N.C. Main threat will be damaging winds with an isolated tornado possible.
