During November, the Ocracoke Community Library will take part in a food drive to benefit the Bread of Life Food Pantry , a program of the Ocracoke Assembly of God Church on Lighthouse Road.

This community outreach project is an effort by all the libraries in the Beaufort Hyde Martin Regional Libraries consortium, of which the Ocracoke library is a member.

“Our goal is to fill local food pantry shelves,” said Amanda Corbett, BHM director, in a press release.

Food pantry suggestion donations include: Canned goods, shelf-stable milk, cereal, pasta, spaghetti sauce, oils and paper products.

Donations can be dropped off during the Ocracoke library’s community hours: 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday; 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Ocracoke Community Library also accepts spent printer ink cartridges for recycling.
