As winter approaches, most Ocracoke shops and restaurants close for the season and islanders get ready for next year or take their own vacations hither and yon around the globe.

The Ocracoke Preservation Society will hold a “Shop Local” day on Sunday, Dec. 9. Details will be posted when they are finalized.
Below is a list of restaurant seasonal closings as of now.

Thanksgiving Buffets, Nov. 22 (reservations recommended or required):
Ocracoke Oyster Co.: 11:30 a.m. to 4 pm.
Gaffer’s: Noon to 4 p.m.

Upcoming closings or limited hours:
Jason’s Restaurant: Last day of the season: Saturday, Nov. 17.
The Slushy Stand: Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ice cream is half price from Nov. 23 to 25. Closing Sunday, Nov. 25.
Ocracoke Coffee Co.: Sunday, Nov. 25.
Sorella’s and Pizza: Seasonal closing TBD; closed Thanksgiving
Plum Pointe Kitchen (inside 1718 Brewing Ocracoke): open through Thanksgiving; reopen Dec. 26 to 30; then open once a weekend TBD Jan. to March
