Although there is not an active Girl Scout troop on Ocracoke this year, Islanders will still be able to get their fix of Girl Scout cookies when Girl Scout Troop #2603 of Kill Devil Hills comes to the island Saturday, March 9, and sets up shop in the Ocracoke Oyster Company parking lot.

Amy Meredith, one of the troop leaders, said sales will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m., unless all of the cookies are sold.

The troop will bring all types of the famed cookies, but if islanders want to be sure to get what they want, they may call Meredith at 252-573-8508 to preorder.

“We ran out of Thin Mints last year,” she said.

Proceeds of the sale will go toward a horseback riding trip for the troop, Meredith said.
