Hyde County’s historic Octagon House will be open for visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1.  

Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about the house, located at 30868 US Hwy 264 near Engelhard, which is one of two antebellum, eight-sided houses in North Carolina.

During the 1 p.m. annual meeting that follows the open house, an update on Phase III of the repairs/restoration will be given by Chairman Walter Baum.  

The event is free and everyone is welcome.
