On-line sales of raffle tickets have begun for an original, framed drawing of Ocracat “Scooter” by Bruce Tarkington.

Raffle proceeds will benefit Ocracats, an island nonprofit (ocracats.org) that helps care for and control the feral cats.

The framed print is on view at YouMeUs Designs at Oscar’s B&B where raffle tickets can also be purchased.   The print’s gallery value is $400.

Raffle tickets of $5 each or five for $20 can be purchased online or via the mail. Mail a check or money order to:  Ocracats Raffle, P.O. Box 514, Ocracoke, N.C. 27960.

Online, purchase tickets through OcraCats’ PayPal link at http://www.ocracats.org. 

For either method, indicate how many tickets you are purchasing and include your email and phone number so that Ocracats can confirm your purchase.

Drawing will be held Monday, Sept. 2, (Labor Day) and “Scooter” will be shipped to the winner.

Cary artist Tarkington, a Sea Level native, has been sketching the North Carolina coast for the last seven years and gifted this drawing to benefit Ocracats. 

His “Carolina Seascapes” collection includes 35 charcoal drawings and his “Down East NC-Beyond the North River” collection, which includes Ocracoke scenes, has been featured in several exhibits and has won numerous awards.

His “Down East NC” collection is currently on exhibit through Labor Day in The Core Sound Waterfowl Museum and Heritage Center, at their temporary location on Arendell Street in Morehead City.
