Ocracoke Strong Kitchen in the Community Center: free lunch for Ocracoke residents the next three days (Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday) All start times are 11a.m. Monday: Seafood Gumbo with bread or biscuit, Tuesday: Fried Chicken, Mashers and gravy, green beans and sweet potato biscuits. Wednesday: Baked Ham, black eyed peas, collards and bread. John and Bonnie Bennett from Hatteras area will be coming down to help as chefs.

Post-Dorian Support Group. Open to all at Lightship Realty, 49 Lighthouse Rd. 4:30 p.m.
New Year’s Eve party at the Flying Melon, 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Polar plunge. 2 p.m. Airport beach. Weather Underground is forecasting sunshine with the air temperature at 52 degrees.

Saturday, Jan. 4
Third pass of debris pickup island-wide begins at 8 a.m.
