The Hyde County Health Department has canceled the mass testing for COVID-19 tomorrow (July 31) on Ocracoke.
The lab scheduled to perform the tests, MakoMedical Laboratories Inc., contacted Hyde Health today to report it has a staffing issue and could not proceed, according to a press release.
A make-up date is being negotiated. As soon as that date and plans are finalized, a press release will be issued as to a new mass testing event date, time and location.
Hyde Health offered apologies, noting the situation is out of their control.
Hyde Health remains available to the public to answer questions and provide education.
They can be reached at 252-926-4399 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
