NC State University researchers will host a free, open house-style research fair from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, in the Ocracoke Community Center and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. later that day in the Hatteras Community Center.
The fair will share findings from a two-year community co-developed research project examining what connects residents to their Outer Banks communities (Avon, Buxton, Frisco, Hatteras, Ocracoke, Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo), how flooding and storms are shaping decisions about the future, and how enhanced storm modeling paired with adaptation strategies can help communities plan for what’s ahead.
Researchers will be positioned at various stations where residents can explore the study results, ask questions, share their perspectives and offer guidance about what they want to know next.
Everyone is welcome to take part in the hands-on activities, including ones specifically designed for youth.
