The area can expect another storm system, arriving late Thursday night and continuing into Saturday morning, although the Outer Banks may see only rain and high winds.

The latest forecast by the National Weather Service is that snow, sleet and ice may occur on the mainland of eastern North Carolina.

The NWS did caution that the northern Outer Banks, which are not currently included in a winter storm watch, may eventually need to be included, as the area of accumulating snow will be very near the Outer Banks north of Oregon Inlet Friday night into early Saturday morning. More details will follow as the storm approaches.

At this time, significant coastal flooding is not a big concern, although if forecast winds increase over the next couple days, the NWS will highlight coastal flood threats in later briefings.
