Christopher Robin Waller, 49, of Ocracoke died peacefully at his home on Dec. 28, 2024.
Born Aug. 6, 1975, he was a son of the late Margaret Waller Cookus and Ray Thomas Waller, Sr.
A native of Ocracoke and graduate of Ocracoke School, Chris was a handyman with many skills, such as carpentry, heating and air work, and plumbing. He was employed by Carl O’Neal Construction for many years.
Chris is survived by his three brothers, Ray Waller, Jr. of Elizabeth City, NC, Rudy Waller of Tacoma, WA, David Cookus of Uniontown, PA; one sister, Anna Cookus of Uniontown, PA; two aunts, Kay Brelig (Bill) of Mocksville, NC, Mary Packrone of Uniontown, PA. His first cousins; Donna Kay O’Neal and Dennis Brelig; uncles, Bob Rholf of Central City, PA; Frannie Rohlf of Ebensburg, PA, Gerard Rohlf of Pittsburgh, PA, David Rohlf of Lorenzo, CA, and Michael Rohlf of Brownsville, PA.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Lynette Ballance Waller; sister, Peggy Eva Simmons; brother-in-law, Brett Cleveland Simmons; brothers, Robert Waller and Russell Waller; grandparents, Rudolph Waller and Eva Rella Waller and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Rholf and Mrs. Waller; and aunt, Linda Rholf.
Family and friends will gather for a graveside service at the Ocracoke Community Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Jan. 18. A celebration of life will be held later in the year for Christopher, Robert and Peggy Eva.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Ocracoke Working Waterman’s Association in honor of Christopher’s special cousins Farris O’Neal, Erick O’Neal and Marcs Lawson, and friends, Carl O’Neal, William Howard, Aaron Caswell and Brett Evans.
