The National Weather Service Forecast Office has issued a cold-weather warning for eastern North Carolina from Friday night to Saturday.
On the Outer Banks, the cold weather, with borderline freezing temperatures, will persist into this weekend with rain Friday night. No snow is expected. Winds, NNW/NW, will be 10-20 mph with gusts possibly higher.
A Winter Storm Watch could impact travel has been issued for everywhere except coastal Dare, coastal Hyde, Carteret and Onslow Counties. The greatest impact will likely be in the far northwest portion of the county warning area, which includes Martin, Pitt, Greene and Lenoir Counties.
The Forecast Office will continue to monitor this system and will issue updates as needed.
