The Ocracoke Waterfowl Festival, celebrating local and regional decoy carvers, will be held Friday and Saturday, April 11 and 12, in the Ocracoke School gym.
Admission is free.
The festival showcases dozens of booths featuring carvers, collectors, exhibitors and demonstrations from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Delaware.
Saturday events include a Decoy Head Carving competition from 1 to 2 p.m. and a silent auction.
This year the event will hold an Ocracoke Fish Fry starting at 11 a.m. with proceeds benefiting the Ocracoke Seafood Company.
There will also be a bake sale filled with local baked items and treats, including Ocracoke fig cake.
Donations are being accepted for the silent action and should be related to waterfowl and hunting, as well as baked goods. Contact Vince O’Neal at beachbirds@embarqmail.com to find out more about the silent auction. Baked goods donations should be delivered to the gym by 9 a.m. April 12.
Due to limited parking spaces at Ocracoke School, a shuttle service will be offered from the National Park Service parking lot located by the N.C. Ferry terminal to the school and back in timely intervals during show hours.
Please respect the property owners near the school.

I wish I could be there, but will be on the island next month. I will see David and Vince for sure
