New priority passes issued for island residents this week.

Hatteras Ferry priority passes for 2016 to 2018, issued by the NC Ferry Division, will be available to permanent residents for three days in May from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Ocracoke Volunteer Fire Department, 822 Irvin Garrish Hwy.

Residents must show a valid driver’s license and a vehicle registration card with an Ocracoke address.   Only one pass per vehicle will be issued.

Residents with the last names from A-H will be on Monday, May 2.
Residents with the last name I-P will be on Tuesday, May 3.
Residents with the last name Q-Z will be on Wednesday, May 4.

Wednesday, May 4

Meeting on the wild mallards in the village with state and federal wildlife experts. Open to all. Community Center anytime from 9 a.m. to noon; or 1 to 3 p.m.

Ocracoke Mosquito Control Board; 6 p.m. Community Center.

Thursday, May 5
