A man who was injured during an altercation outside the Jolly Roger Restaurant has been released from the hospital, the Hyde County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement released on Facebook.
The incident began in the restaurant on Aug. 19 between four off-island men, said Captain Joe Smith in an interview.
Management had ejected both parties twice and then after the business closed, a fight ensued outside, during which one of the men was injured and he had to be medevaced to the ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, Smith said.
The statement confirmed that the individual has been released, dispelling rumors of a fatality.
Smith said the case will be presented to the district attorney’s office for review and a recommendation on possible criminal charges.
