
To commemorate the National Park Service Centennial, the Cape Hatteras National Seashore will host a concert today by Brooke German and Nick Derrick from 7 to 9 p.m. on the grassy area adjacent to the National Park Service boat docks at Silver Lake Harbor.
German is an actor, singer and accomplished cellist. Her training includes The Actor’s Center in Asheville, The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Art and the Kellam Intensive Theatre Program in Virginia Beach, Va.
She is also the host of “Streaming with Brooke” on Ocracoke’s community radio station, WOVV 90.1 FM, Tuesday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. and online at wovv.org.
Derrick plays guitar and mandolin and a singer. The duo has performed extensively in the Asheville area.
NPS staff will be present at 5:30 p.m. to answer questions about the park and provide some literature about the park.
Junior Ranger booklets and badges will also be available for kids of all ages
The next concert will be Aug. 8 and will feature the Madame Presidents (Kate MacNally, Kim Franz, and Katy Mitchell).
