Free summer programs with the National Park Service have started and continue through Sept. 5.

Meet at the Visitor Center unless other location noted. Attendees are asked to bring bug spray and sunscreen.

Mondays:  

8:30 a.m. Crabbing with a ranger; limited space; must sign up for program by Sunday at 5 p.m.  (90 min.)

10 a.m.  All about sea turtles (hands-on activity for children)

11 a.m.  Pirates!  (30 min)

2:30 p.m. Barrier island nature (30 min)

Tuesdays:

8:30 a.m.  Hammock Hills bird walk (meet at Hammock Hills parking lot)

8:30 a.m.  Cast netting; must sign up for program by Sunday at 5 p.m. (90 min)

2:30 p.m.  Ocracoke history (30 min)
3 p.m.   Especially for Kids: sea turtle program and hands-on activity (30 min.)

Wednesdays:

Thursdays:        

9 a.m. Banker Ponies.  Meet at Pony Pens (30 min.)

11 a.m.  Pirates!  (30 min)

2:30 p.m. Barrier island nature (30 min)

3:30 p.m. Ocracoke history.  (30 min)

Fridays:        

8:30 a.m. Morning bird walk; meet at ferry parking lot; north end of island (90 min.)

2:30 p.m. Barrier island nature (30 min)

11 a.m. Banker Ponies. Meet at Pony Pens (30 min.)
