Ocracoke Island’s fundraising Run Fest weekend will be April 29 and 30 with four races.
Pirate themes have been added this year and the Sixth Annual Jolly Roger 5K, Queen Anne’s Revenge 10K and one-mile Family Fun Run will be Saturday, April 29. Blackbeard’s half-marathon, inaugurated last year, will be Sunday, April 30.
The 5K and 10K begin at 8 a.m. at Gaffer’s on Saturday, and the Family Fun Run, sponsored by Ocracoke Coffee, will take place immediately after the awards ceremony for the 5K/10K.

Race director Greg Honeycutt said all 5K/10K finishers will receive medals this year in addition to medals for the top three male and female finishers of each age category.
All 10k/5K runners will receive a T-shirt (sizes not guaranteed after April 14 pre-registration) with a local-artist design.
Gaffer’s also will host post-run party at 11:30 a.m. at no charge for 10k/5K runners.
The half-marathon course on Sunday at 8 a.m. goes through the Village of Ocracoke then heads north to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore campground and back to Gaffer’s.
The 2016 race raised over $40,000 for three beneficiaries: Ocracoke Community Radio WOVV, Ocracoke School Athletic Boosters Club, Ocracoke Community Park and Ocracoke Childcare Center.
