Ocracoke folks at 3 p.m. today (Saturday) will mirror the march in Raleigh with their own Moral March starting at the Sunglass Shop at Spencer’s Market on School Road.

Anna Rucker, Sunglass Shop owner, organized the march for a variety of causes: The Women’s March, Moral Monday, No Drill No Spill#metoo, Unity, our DACA friends.

“Why are we marching?” she said in a Facebook post. “Why aren’t we marching is more like it.”

Rucker said marchers should gather at 2:45 p.m. in the Sunglass Shop parking lot, and the march will begin promptly at 3.

The group will walk down Lighthouse Road, turn around at the lighthouse to walk back to The Sunglass Shop.

Marchers may make signs to bring but Rucker urges to use “your best judgment in slogans,” and to not fuel the fire with opposing parties with hurtful words.

Some “No Drill, No Spill” signs will be supplied as well as the large “Ocracoke Island” banner.
