The National Weather Service in Morehead City is forecasting that an area of low pressure will move through Eastern North Carolina late tonight through Saturday bringing with it heavy rain and the potential for flooding, especially for low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Forecasters expect a swath of one to three inches along the coast, with locally higher amounts possible in any stronger thunderstorms.
There will also be a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon with damaging wind gusts being the primary threat.
