The Ocracoke School varsity soccer game against the Hatteras Hurricanes today (Friday) at 5 p.m. at Community Park will be part of a state-wide Hurricane Florence Relief Assistance Contest to aid schools in hurricane-devastated areas.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Florence and devastating flooding across the state, the fundraising contest was organized by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) of Chapel Hill which will provide matching funds.

Member schools are joining the effort by having games and donating the gate donations.

“Many of NCHSAA member schools in Eastern North Carolina received a devastating blow from Hurricane Florence and we want to do our part to help during this time of need,” said NCHSAA Commissioner Que Tucker.
