N.C. Highway 12 was again overwashed during the weekend storm (Dec. 8-9) at the same area north of the pony pens that was breached during Hurricane Florence in September.
Although NCDOT closed that part of the highway while sand was removed, Hyde County Emergency Services announced Monday afternoon that the road was reopened.

Thanks for the video, Peter. Are there plans in the works to get a more permanent solution to that area of overwash? It has been happening with more and more frequency as you well know. Thanks, as always, for such great reporting from the Observer!
